        <description>L'effet Pygmalion est le phénomène par lequel des attentes plus élevées conduisent à des performances plus élevées. Son nom provient d'un mythe grec dans lequel un sculpteur, Pygmalion, aimait tellement une de ses sculptures que ses supplications ont convaincu Aphrodite, la déesse de l'amour, de transformer la sculpture en un être humain. L'effet peut être aussi bien négatif que positif, comme dans la pièce de G. B. Shaw, où une simple fleuriste est transformée en une vraie dame. L'effet Pygmalion est également connu sous le nom d'expérience de Rosenthal, en référence aux recherches de Robert Rosenthal à Harvard.
